NEW ITEMS WERE ADDED ON DECEMBER 4TH – ARTIFACTS FROM GETTYSBURG, ANTIETAM, CRAMPTON’S GAP, SHILOH, MONOCACY, SPOTSYLVANIA, TREVILIAN STATION AND RINGGOLD GAP!

It is all about the provenance!  When I began collecting Civil War artifacts back when I was a child, I was always much more interested in the recovery location of an artifact than the rarity or value of the artifact itself.  As a historian, I have made every effort to acquire artifacts with solid provenance.  The intent of this website is to offer Civil War relics with a historical connection so that the collector can feel secure in the knowledge that they are getting something from a specific event or place.  Each item includes a provenance letter with all of the details that I know about the piece.

Product Details

This .54 caliber bullet was a part of the collection of the famous relic hunter Bill Gavin and was in a group of relics that were identified as having been found in Camp Santee - site of the 1862-1863 winter camp for A.P. Hill's Corps near Corbin, Virginia. Bill Gavin was the first relic hunter to use a metal detector to search for Civil War artifacts (back in the 1940s - the first location was Cold Harbor) and amassed a huge collection of items in the decades that followed. Gavin wrote four books, including the well-know "Accoutrement Plates North and South, 1861-1865" and several articles and was well respected for his knowledge in the field. He passed away in 2010. I will include a provenance letter.
