Rare Confederate Sheet Iron Bayonet Scabbard Tip
Recovered from Chancellorsville - From the John Graham Collection
-

A rare Confederate sheet iron bayonet scabbard tip. This type was clearly not intended
to have a finial. This was acquired from the John Graham Collection. According to Confederate accoutrement authority
Butch Myers, Graham's collection of Confederate scabbard tips was one of the most complete collections in the country.
Graham's original tag indicates that this relic was found at Chancellorsville. The scabbard tip is 3 inches
long. It has a small chip missing from the top and is a little crushed at the top as well - it has been
preserved with a coat of some type of acrylic. You will not find too many of these for sale. I will include a
letter, signed by me, noting this provenance. This item may be seen in Case 63 at the Antique Center of Gettysburg.

-

A Confederate brass bayonet scabbard tip that was acquired from the John Graham Collection.
According to Confederate accoutrement authority Butch Myers, Graham's collection of Confederate scabbard tips was one of the
most complete collections in the country. Graham's original label indicates that this relic was found at Corinth,

A very rare complete Confederate pewter bayonet scabbard tip with the remains of the leather scabbard still
attached! This was acquired from the John Graham Collection. According to Confederate accoutrement authority Butch Myers,

Rare Confederate Pewter Bayonet Scabbard
Tip
Recovered at Spotsylvania - From the John Graham Collection
-

A very rare Confederate pewter bayonet scabbard tip with what appears to be a brass finial! This was acquired
from the John Graham Collection. According to Confederate accoutrement authority Butch Myers, Graham's collection of
Confederate scabbard tips was one of the most complete collections in the country. Graham's original tag indicated that
this relic was found in Spotsylvania. The scabbard tip is just over 2 3/4 inches long and is made of fairly
heavy pewter. The style is very different than the other pewter tip I just listed. Unfortunately, this one has
been damaged - there is a 3/4 inch piece missing from the top, a crack across the top and flaking on about half of the
surface. The finial also appears to have been glued back into place. Despite the condition issues, this is still
a rare piece. I will include a letter, signed by me, noting this provenance. This item may be seen in Case 63
at the Antique Center of Gettysburg.

Confederate Bayonet Scabbard Tip - Iron with
Lead Finial - Recovered from Wilderness -
From the John Graham Collection
-
Confederate sheet iron bayonet scabbard tips with lead finials are difficult to find. This very nice
example was acquired from the John Graham collection. Graham's original display label indicates that it was found
in the Wilderness. This one has a nice rounded finial. It measures 3 inches in length. The iron is rusted, as would
be expected from a ground recovery, but it is solid and has been cleaned and coated. This one is flattened on one side
and at the top and there is a small dent towards the tip. A small piece of iron has chipped away from the top. A rare
and difficult to find relic! I will include a letter, signed by me, noting the provenance. This item may be seen
in Case 63 at the Antique Center of Gettysburg.
